In 1903, Edward VII was King; Sir Wilfred Laurier was Prime Minister. Bison grazed on wild prairie in Silver Heights. Riders on horseback traveled alongside streetcars and buggies on Main Street.

Winnipeg: Images from a Century Ago is a faithful reproduction of a book originally published in 1903 that captures a rare glimpse into our city’s early splendour.  This new edition, updated with an introduction by the Honorable Duff Roblin, was created by the Rotary Clubs of Winnipeg Literacy Project, a fundraising initiative in support of the Millennium Library Community Campaign  to  help build and strengthen the collections of the Millennium Library.

This remarkable book showcases 600 stunning photographs of Winnipeg’s architecture, streetscapes, public spaces and city life around the turn of the 20th century. While many buildings and locations are now just memories, surprisingly many still exist today.
